Gallery Night

Valley Junction’s galleries come together to showcase new artwork by regional, national, and international artists during our bi-annual Gallery Night. This event is free and open to the public.

Gallery Night has grown into a popular community event. It is one of the largest merchant events in Historic Valley Junction and a terrific opportunity to rediscover this eclectic shopping district. The galleries of Historic Valley Junction offer original artwork, custom jewelry, ceramics, glass, furniture, folk art, and fine art reproductions, as well as many other one-of-a-kind objects. Gallery Night supports many locally owned businesses and showcases the community of Historic Valley Junction.

2AU Limited is a contemporary jewelry design studio and art gallery. Owned and operated by designer Ann Au, 2AU has a complete jewelry studio on site where we design and construct one of a kind pieces of jewelry. Whether we are working with precious and semi-precious stones from our collection or repurposing a piece of your jewelry that no longer fits your taste, we will create for you a stunning piece of wearable art.

Come in and discover a treasure at 2AU. We offer a beautiful selection of jewelry designed by our studio artists and work by other artists we represent from many points of the globe. We also carry a diverse selection of three dimensional art, home goods and accessories to provide you a unique shopping experience.

Atomic Blond Mid Century Modern Gallery Loft | 124 5th

AOK Antiques/Atomic Blond Mid Century Modern Gallery Loft specialize in neon lighting, turn-of-the-century oak, jukeboxes, slot machines, advertising, toys, jewelry, architecturally designed furniture, Scandanavian design, sculpture, and lighting.

The first floor features an amazing inventory of retro and vintage finds. Venture upstairs and discover mid-century modern pieces by designers including George Nelson, Harry Bertoia, Charles Eames, Florence Knoll, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and Eero Saarinen.

Specializing in one-of-a-kind art prints & apparel, Bozz Prints is proud to be in West Des Moines’ Historic Valley Junction. Visit their shop and studio on 5th St and see for yourself!

Five Monkeys | 134 5th

Jen Gauerke’s Spring 2024 show, Art Circus, is a collection of works from the previous 3 years, some pieces exhibited for the first time at Five Monkeys as part of Valley Junction’s annual Gallery Night. With roots in nostalgia, this body of work celebrates life with bold vibrant colors. The show proves art can be beautiful and fun. Jen’s multimedia approach results in richly layered images, with originals and prints available.

Kavanaugh Art Gallery | 228 5th

Kavanaugh Gallery has an exceptional collection of fine art from around the world showcasing original paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel and mixed media. The Gallery is also home to an extensive selection of sculpture, limited edition prints, Giclée’s, and serigraphs, as well as antique and reproduction prints and posters, including early works on paper.

Kunzler Studios | 324 5th

Kunzler Studios is a family-owned art gallery and ceramics studio that showcases artworks from different local artists. Kunzler Studios is also home to the Des Moines Pottery Collective, which consists over 25 local ceramicists who work out of and sell their pottery in the store. Kunzler Studios offers pottery and painting classes.

Join us on Gallery Night for the opening reception of “Another Side of the Story” featuring seven midwestern artists whose artworks contain untold narratives awaiting your discovery. Established in 1979 in Valley Junction, Olson-Larsen Galleries is a contemporary art gallery and custom frame shop representing the finest artists in the Midwest.

The Spice & Tea Exchange | 218 5th

The Tea & Spice Exchange of West Des Moines will host local ceramicists Ben Miyamoto Ceramics and Tess Cody Ceramics. Ben and Tess are both members of the Des Moines Pottery Collective and create their pottery right here in Valley Junction! Both Ben and Tess create functional pottery that has a natural, earthy feel. Ben’s pottery showcases different textures and designs, and much of Tess’s pottery contains detailed sculptural elements.
