Whether you have visited our district to shop in our stores, dine in our restaurants, visit our service businesses, attend our events, or just enjoy the vibe, the Historic Valley Junction Foundation works hard to make you feel welcome here. Now we’re asking you to help us continue that work by taking part in our annual investment campaign.
HVJF is proud to serve the Valley Junction Main Street district every day. Just a few of the many things we did in 2024:
- Helped attract 1.3 million visitors throughout the year
- Presented 65 free public events, from Yoga in the Park to Cinco de Mayo to Jingle in the Junction
- Beautified the district with flowers, plants, banners, and holiday lighting
- Commissioned a colorful new mural
- Expanded the Valley Junction Farmers Market into the 300 block of Fifth
- Added picnic tables at our events and walkway bistro seating for everyday public use
- Assisted merchants with business operation and exterior improvement microgrants
- Marketed Valley Junction locally and regionally
In 1987, HVJF was founded as a Main Street program by stakeholders who wanted to make sure that the Historic Valley Junction commercial district would always be a great place to visit and do business. We have delivered on that promise year after year – and now, HVJF is gearing up for a busy and exciting 2025! Our new plans for the new year include:
- Additional public art
- More public seating
- Revamped Railroad Park decorative lights

The Valley Junction Welcome Center and public restrooms are also located in our office.
Our business hours are Monday – Friday from 9 AM – 5 PM, as well as evenings and weekends during our community special events.
We have been a proud Main Street Iowa program since 1987, using the Four Point Approach (c) to historic commercial district revitalization. The Historic Valley Junction Foundation is accredited annually by Main Street Iowa for Main Street America. We encourage you to learn more!
